WWI Aerial Reconnaissance Multi-User Interactive Table
Concept, design, and production of a multi-user interactive table experience for Auckland War Memorial Museum’s new gallery, Pou Kanohi New Zealand at War.
Flightless was commissioned by Auckland War Memorial Museum to create an interactive table experience that visitors could use to discover the role of Air Reconnaissance in WWI.
The interactive table format is ideal for relating map-based and geographical planning scenarios. For this experience, visitors are tasked with flying WWI Bi-planes over enemy lines and taking photographs of strategic areas of interest.
Visitors control the planes with physical compass-like controllers that sit on the table top. Once visitors have flown around and taken photos of the required targets, the application goes into ‘analysis mode’ where the results of the Air Recon mission are relayed through Army Intelligence files.
