Ngā Wāhi Pounamu

Ngā Wāhi Pounamu is a large screen-based interactive controlled through a physical chrome dial. This interactive was created for the Kura Pounamu Exhibition at Te Papa.

Turning the dial activates the interactive and allows the user to navigate through selected areas of a 3D map of South Island, New Zealand. Each area visited triggers a video interview with a local Maori spokesperson. As the engaging interviews play, the user hears about the history and importance of pounamu (greenstone) in that region, while the screen displays key imagery, information and subtitles. Turning the chrome dial moves the user on to the next region and interview.
